| Details: Position Summary:  Administer, direct, and manage all independent turkey procurement in a quality, cost competitive fashion. Monitor independent grower performance using the results for an annual performance review with the grower and recommendation for contract renewal. Communicate, in a timely fashion, specific information relevant to independent production as it relates to Sara Lee policies and mandates. Assist in the management and supervision of the Load & Haul operations.  Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Direct the development, negotiation and administration of independent grower contracts in concert with turkey meat needs as outlined in the Sales and Operation and Long Range Planning process. Assist independent growers to develop and implement plans for improved grow out performance. Inform independent growers of changes at Sara Lee of a general nature and those that will affect grow out policies or philosophies. Maintain a close and friendly, but professional, relationship with independent growers while personally abiding by and enforcing ethical practices in all dealings with independent growers. Perform the above responsibilities by visiting independent grower farms, holding group informational meetings, telephone and written communication, and trip reports. Oversee the management of the L&H operations on a daily basis. Other duties as directed by the Executive Director, Turkey Grow Out and Procurement.  Key Measurable Results: Cost savings initiatives. Cost competitive supply of independent turkeys. Control and improvement of condemnation rates on independent turkeys. Maintain competitive ranking and costs for L&H operations in AgriStats. | ||||
